By Executive Order, Governor Hickenlooper’s forms the Amendment 64 Implementation Task Force.

It consists of 24 members who meet regularly for over two months.  Five working groups under the Task Force draft recommendations.  These working groups include subject matter experts from around the state and cover the following topics:  Regulatory Framework; Tax/Funding & Civil Law Issues; Consumer Safety & Social Issues; Criminal Law Issues; and Local Authority and Control.

Three of Smart’s founding members are appointed to take part in working groups dealing with Criminal Law, Local Authority and Taxation, but they are outnumbered by members of the marijuana industry and its proponents.  In a disappointing development, “health, safety and well-being of Colorado children” is ranked last in priority by the Task Force.
