Colorado voters pass Amendment 20 legalizing medical marijuana in Colorado. Effective December 28, 2000. Any chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition may qualify. There is no age limit for patients. Amendment allows non-medically trained “caregivers” 18 years or older to manage patients; permits no more than 2 ounces of marijuana and no more than 6 plants; allows excess amounts for medical necessity; use may not be in plain view of or in a place open to, the general public. Employers are not required to accommodate medical marijuana use in the work place. No language addresses commercial or retail dispensaries, cultivators, infused products manufacturers or testing facilities.
