Deputy U.S. Attorney General, David W. Ogden, issues a memorandum, “Investigations and Prosecutions in States Authorizing the Medical Use of Marijuana,” to selected U.S. Attorney. This memorandum states that federal investigative and prosecutorial resources should not be focused on individuals whose actions are in clear and unambiguous compliance with existing state laws providing for the medical use of marijuana. Sales to minors would continue to be illegal drug trafficking activity of potential federal interest.
